 Warm Up and Tune Up:
An Interactive Voice Workshop for Singers and Choral Directors

This workshop provides tools to develop an understanding of vocal physiology and its application in the choral setting.

Topics include efficient warm ups for the body, breath management, phonation and choral blend and phrasing.  In addition, the workshop includes tips on managing vocal health, the ageing voice and maintaining vocal stamina. Most recently she has presented this workshop with her colleague and conductor, Amy Lieberman, to the Greater Boston Choral Consortium, Boston Singers Resource and the Metropolis of Boston Federation of Greek Orthodox Musicians.

Group Singing Programs

Angelynne has developed and implemented group voice curriculum for more than 20 years.

As a senior artist in residence for Maine School Administrative District 60, Angelynne works with identified gifted young singers in grades 6 through 12, teaching vocal health, physiology and age-appropriate repertoire.

She has created and implemented a voice/choral artist-in-residency program for at-risk teenage girls and developed and taught a series of intensive vocal workshops for York County Regional Fine Arts Program, a program designed for gifted and talented students. In addition, she has been a regular adjudicator for the Southern Maine Choral Competition and a judge for the New Hampshire state-wide National Association of Teachers of Singing competition.

As former Director of Education and Audience Engagement for Cantata Singers, she monitored all education and outreach, developed and implemented curriculum for special educational compositional projects in four inner city Boston schools and Boston Arts Academy. In addition, she initiated collaboration with composers, teachers, and school administrators to create meaningful arts integration.

Influences, Approach and Techniques

Angelynne’s focus in vocal training is helping students build a healthy efficient technique through understanding voice physiology and the relationship between vocal style and healthy technique.

She trained with Gisela Rohmert of the Lichtenberg Institute, Germany, studying the effects of hearing and vocal tract lining tonus on vocal production. Having completed workshop training at the Wesley Balk Institute in Minneapolis, MN, she implements these techniques with students to help explore individual performance styles.

Angelynne studied vocal pedagogy and voice with Kathleen Wilson and has maintained a private studio in Portsmouth for 20+ years. She has also studied voice and coached with Jayne West, Kathleen Kaun, Phyllis Curtin, Kayo Iwama, Alison Voth and Richard Conrad.
